When you send the estimate quiz or the contact form, your contact details, your town and what you plan to build reach our office, and we use them to reply, walk your property and prepare plans and a price. General Contractor Portland is a Legacy Construction company, Legacy Construction handles those requests, and your details are never sold.

Ticking the consent box lets us call, text and email you about the request, and a STOP reply ends the texts at any point. We use no analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies here, and you can see, correct or delete what we hold by writing to [email protected].

This policy took effect on October 28, 2026, and was last revised that day.

Here is what General Contractor Portland does with the details you give us through this site. The sections below cover what we gather and why, which outside companies see it and the choices you have.

Who We Are

General Contractor Portland builds custom homes, additions and garages and remodels kitchens and bathrooms in Portland, Maine, and 21 nearby towns. We work from an office on Gray Road in Gorham, and our website lives at contractorportlandmaine.com.

Our company belongs to Legacy Construction, and Legacy Construction handles every estimate request and message sent through this site. Wherever this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means both.

Information Our Forms Collect

Our estimate quiz and contact form send nothing until you press the last button. Quit partway and nothing reaches us, and neither form keeps a copy of your answers in your browser.

  • Who you are: full name, phone number and email address.
  • What you are planning: your town; your first pick on the quiz (build new, add space or remodel); the project type, rough budget and message from the contact form; and any notes typed at the end of the quiz.
  • When and where you sent it: the state of the consent box, the page you sent it from and a time stamp.

Notes from phone calls and from our walk of your property go into the same file. Once you hire us, that file grows to include our written price, our signed agreement and every bill we send.

Separately, our hosting company logs each page request in the usual way. Each entry notes the page asked for along with the visitor's IP address and browser.

How We Use It

We use your details for three jobs only:

  • getting back to you and booking a walk of your lot or your house
  • drawing and pricing the work, then, if you hire us, carrying out the work and invoicing for it
  • staying in touch about the project by call, text or email, within the consent you gave

Nobody buys, rents or trades your personal information from us. Nor do we use it to pitch you anything beyond the project you asked about.

Outside Services That Handle Your Details

A handful of outside companies handle information on our behalf.

  • Customer-management software stores each form along with call notes and project notes.
  • Our phone, text and email providers carry messages between you and us, and call notes land in your file.
  • Cloudflare hosts this site, keeps the page-request log and passes along email sent to our address.

Our town maps load tiles from OpenStreetMap's servers, which therefore log your IP address. The directions link on our contact page opens Google Maps, where Google's privacy terms apply.

We may have to share information when a court order, a subpoena or some other legal duty demands it. We may also share it to keep someone safe or to defend our rights in law.

Every request form carries one consent box. It is never pre-ticked, and the request will not go through until you tick it yourself.

On the quiz, the box sits beside a short line whose link opens the complete authorization. On the contact form, the complete wording is printed right next to the box.

By ticking it, you authorize General Contractor Portland, its team members and its assistants to reach you by email, SMS text or phone to confirm your request and what you told us, even when your phone number sits on a Do-Not-Call list. The authorization covers eligibility questions, follow-up messages, pre-qualification letters and internal discussion of the request, automated calls and texts included, and no purchase ever depends on giving it.

Should you browse sections of our site devoted to builders, contractors, real estate agents or home service providers, your authorization covers them as well. If you prefer not to consent online, call us at the number in the footer and we can take your request by phone.

Texts and Calls

Our texts stick to your estimate request or your project, for example to book the visit or to update you once the build is under way. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies with the project.

  • Text STOP whenever you want our texts to end, and a single reply will confirm it.
  • Text HELP for assistance, or write to [email protected].
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third party.

Want the phone calls to end as well? Say so on any call or in an email, and your number comes off our call list.

Our AI Receptionist

An AI receptionist may answer your call before a person does, and it identifies itself as AI at the start. It notes your name, your number and the project you describe, then files a short summary in your record.

Cookies, Tracking and Analytics

No analytics program, advertising pixel or tracking cookie runs on this site. We write nothing into your browser's storage, and both forms still work with cookies turned off.

OpenStreetMap and Google Maps may place cookies under their own rules. Cookies can be blocked or cleared from your browser's settings whenever you choose.

How Long Records Stay on File

A request stays on file while we are answering it and following through on the project. Customer files can be kept longer when a contract, the tax rules or some other law requires it.

Keeping Your Details Secure

Your details are open only to the outside services listed above and to the members of our team who need them for your project. No system on the internet is beyond reach, and we do not pretend ours is.

Should a data breach ever reach your personal information, Maine's breach notice law sets how we tell you, and we follow it.

Your Choices

Ask us, and we will:

  • send you a copy of whatever personal information sits in our files
  • correct anything that is inaccurate or stale
  • erase your information, keeping only what a signed contract or the law obliges us to hold

Email [email protected] or call the number shown on our contact page. Before we act, we may check a detail or two so we know the request came from you.

Children

Our pages are written for adults planning a home project, not for children. Any information we find came from someone under 18 is deleted.

Several of our pages cite outside sources such as Maine statutes, state agencies and town code offices. Their privacy practices are their own and fall outside this policy.

Changes to This Policy

This page gets revised when our information practices or the law change. The date printed at the head of the page marks the current version.

Questions About Privacy
